Why credits instead of a subscription?

You shouldn't pay every month for a tool you use twice a quarter. Buy a pack when you need it, use it whenever — credits never expire and you keep what you don't spend.

Free vs paid on a PDF — who decides?

You do, on every PDF. Before mapping runs, FillDef shows a Choose-credit screen with your trial fills (N of 5, first 30 days), free-fill quota (N of 3), and your paid balance side by side. Pick free if a quick fill is enough; pick trial or paid if you want font controls and a draggable, resizable signature on this specific PDF. You can also skip autofill entirely with a manual fill — never costs anything. Paid-tier accounts can still spend free fills — buying credits doesn't force you to use them.

What's a trial fill?

A 30-day, 5-fill paid-level allowance for new accounts. Trial fills behave exactly like a paid credit on that PDF — draggable + resizable signature and font controls — but they cost nothing. After 30 days, any unused trial fills are gone, and you're on the 3 free monthly fills.

What's a manual fill?

A no-autofill mode that's always free, never costs a credit, and isn't capped. You pick from your saved profile per-row, or type a custom value — useful when you don't want AI fallback to touch the form, or when you just want to drop a few values without spending a fill. Manual fills work on both fillable and non-fillable PDFs.

Is the first-time pack really cheaper?

Yes. New accounts can buy 100 credits for $1.99 once — the same credits as Starter, just $1 cheaper because you're new. After that, regular pack pricing applies.

Do free fills carry over?

No. Free fills (3 per month) reset on the 1st of each month (UTC). They don't roll over because they're a usage allowance, not a balance. Trial fills (5, first 30 days) also don't roll over — once your 30-day trial ends, any unused trial fills are gone. Paid credits are different — those never expire.

What counts as a fill?

One PDF mapping pass or one web-form fill. Re-downloading a tweaked PDF, editing fields, or moving the signature in the review surface does NOT spend a credit — those are free as many times as you want.

Do I lose credits if I uninstall the extension?

No. Credits are tied to your account, not your browser. Sign in again from any device and your balance is there. Your encrypted profile lives in the web app — uninstalling the extension doesn't affect it either.
